EKG

An electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) is a test that checks for problems with the electrical activity of your heart. An EKG translates the heart’s electrical activity into line tracings on paper. The spikes and dips in the line tracings are called waves and can help determine if there are any abnormalities in the rhythm of your heart. It can be used to help find the cause of unexplained chest pain as well as heart disease and many other issues concerning the health and function of the heart.

Diabetes Testing

Out of the estimated 24 million people with diabetes, one third, or eight million, don’t know they have the disease. According to Martin J. Abrahamson, M.D., Medical Director and Senior Vice President at Joslin Diabetes Center, this is because people with type 2 diabetes often have no symptoms. However, a simple blood test is all you need to find out if you are one the millions with untreated diabetes. You can be tested for diabetes right here at Brashear Family Medical.

Warfarin Monitoring

The goal of Warfarin therapy is to decrease the clotting tendency of blood, but not to prevent clotting completely. Therefore, the blood’s ability to clot must be carefully monitored while a person takes Warfarin. The dose of Warfarin is adjusted, based on the results of periodic blood tests, to maintain the clotting time within a target range.

Pregnancy Testing

If you think there’s a chance you may be pregnant, come by our office and let us help you find out for sure. The friendly and helpful staff at Brashear Family Medical can provide you with an accurate pregnancy test in office in a short amount of time.

Urinalysis

A Urinalysis is done for several reasons. They help doctors assess your overall health, diagnose a medical condition, or help monitor an existing condition.

Strep and Flu Testing

If you feel you might be coming down with the flu or strep throat, you may want to be tested so you can begin healing as soon as possible.

Allergies Testing

Allergy testing is performed to determine if your body has an allergic reaction to a known substance. This exam can be in the form of a blood test, a skin test, or an elimination diet.

Spirometry (Lung Functioning Test)

Spirometry is a common office test used to assess how well your lungs work by measuring how much air you inhale, how much you exhale and how quickly you exhale. It is used to diagnose asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that affect breathing. Spirometry may also be used periodically to check whether a treatment for a chronic lung condition is helping you breathe better.
